Crew tied for 1st; Yelich pushing for Triple Crown

Christian Yelich continued his push for the Triple Crown with two home runs, the second of which put the Brewers ahead for good in the seventh inning. Jonathan Schoop and Erik Kratz combined to drive in three runs in the fourth inning for Milwaukee, which is now tied atop the NL Central with the Cubs entering the final day of the regular season.

Galvis ends marathon with walk-off 2B in 15th

Freddy Galvis provided the knockout punch for the Padres via a walk-off double in the 15th inning of a 3-2 win over the D-backs. Javy Guerra worked a walk off Matt Andriese to lead off the bottom half of the 15th, setting the table for Galvis’ seventh at-bat of the game. Ketel Marte scored on Nick Ahmed’s sac fly in the top of the 12th for the D-backs, but Hunter Renfroe answered with a solo homer in the bottom of the frame.

Cameron Maybin drove in four runs, and Robinson Cano had four hits as the Mariners doubled up the Rangers, 12-6, on Friday to even the series. The Mariners’ bullpen pitched four scoreless innings to keep the Rangers’ comeback hopes at bay. Adrian Beltre drove in two runs and passed Frank Thomas for 21st on the all-time RBI list for the Rangers.

Los Angeles Lakers hire Kurt Rambis as Senior Basketball Advisor

EL SEGUNDO — The Los Angeles Lakers have hired Kurt Rambis as Senior Basketball Advisor, it was announced Friday by President of Basketball Operations Earvin “Magic” Johnson. In his role, Rambis will report to Johnson and support the basketball operations and coaching staffs in their day-to-day functions.
